About Epi-Insight

Eric stoveDr Eric Neumann is the owner of Epi-Insight Limited, an epidemiology consulting business with offices in New Zealand and the United States. Along with his colleague Dr Arun Kurian, projects are undertaken on behalf of international clients in the areas of biosecurity, animal health, livestock production, public policy aspects of animal disease management, and risk assessment related to trade in animals and animal products. He has over 25 years of experience helping clients manage complex problems that require an evidence-based approach to problem-solving based on structured collection of data, systematic analysis, and easy-to-understand reporting that can assist clients make business decisions, or support development of public policy.

Dr Neumann has been involved in livestock production, aid and development projects, infectious disease management and research, controlled experimental trials, international project management and collaboration, government-sector biosecurity policy development, and one-health training in locations around the world.

Dr Neumann has been on the faculty of the veterinary school at Massey University in New Zealand since 2005 and remains as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Massey in addition to his full-time consulting business. While at Massey, Dr Neumann led the ‘International Development Group’ which has been involved in delivering One Health training and capacity-building across south and east Asia since 2009. He also holds the position of Affiliate Associate Professor of Veterinary Epidemiology, Iowa State University, USA.

Prior to his current position, he worked in various roles in the United States livestock industry including the Manager of Veterinary Services for Heartland Pork Enterprises (65,000 sows) and as the Director of Swine Health and Research at the National Pork Board in Des Moines, Iowa. He has an undergraduate degree, Masters, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois and completed a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology at Massey University in New Zealand.
